About Utsav

Being in the corporate world for close to a decade, I have found happiness and inspiration through my various hobbies and personal interests outside of the workplace. When I first moved to London years ago, I knew two distant acquaintances and had three suitcases to my name. The only way I could think of making friends and making this city my own was to invest in hobbies. I started with a certificate in wine tasting, playing squash, and joining a book club.

I decided to complete my yoga teacher training in London to reconnect to my roots in India and rediscover yoga as a form of physical and mental exercise, something I used to do growing up as a child.

One winter afternoon in London, I was bored at home, too dark and cold to do anything outside. I picked up my laptop and began sketching out a short story. My father’s words rang out pushing me to write back in high school, words I had since ignored. That weekend ended up being the starting point of using writing as a form of escapism and relaxation.

Today, I have travelled to over 60 countries spread across six continents. Last year, I completed one of my lifelong dreams – to take a sabbatical and travel around the world. The more I was privy to life changing experiences, the more I developed a desire to capture them to the best I could. The one secret I have come to realise is nothing compares to living the moment, but looking back at pictures helps jog the memory and transport me abroad.

Welcome to my website, a collection of some of my hobbies, and a way to understand me better!

Yoga
Yoga Philosophy

Yoga primarily revolves around discipline. The ability to focus and concentrate in this world that is replete with distractions. Personally, what makes yoga unique is its holistic approach to fitness – it is not purely physical.

The most approachable aspect of yoga is the adoption of physical poses. As you get into and maintain various poses, our minds, unconsciously, forget other external stimuli and focus on the pose at hand.

As we progress in our yoga practice, that clarity of mind and ability to tune out the world around us, should slowly come more naturally, with and without the physical poses. That is the ultimate end goal of yoga in the modern world.

Travel

I developed a love for travel early on, my parents used to take me and my sister on many holidays while we were in school. We would miss days of school because travel was also an important form of education. As I continue to travel, capturing some of the breath-taking moments through a camera or a phone has turned into a hobby. You will find over 100 photos here that you can peruse for your own pleasure and request prints of.

Writing

I have two completed manuscripts for a novel and a short story collection that I’m actively seeking representation for. While I continue my quest to get published on those pieces of work, please enjoy some other unpublished short stories, and works of fiction that I have written.
